Maria Bernadeth Tukan (Ona) completed her Bachelor’s Degree at the Faculty of Biology, Universitas Gadjah Mada, focused on Biodiversity and environmental issues. Her professional career started in 2023 when she worked as a Youth Engagement Officer in Yayasan PIKUL, for climate crisis issues, especially for the marine and coastal community. Besides that, she has a passion for marine mammal issues, literacy, and studies related to cultural archives in her hometown, Larantuka. With her experience and passion for marine science, she decided to continue her journey with Thresher Shark Indonesia.
At Thresher Shark Indonesia, Ona is working as a Knowledge and Science Officer responsible for providing scientific data for program purposes, survey and identify emerging marine conservation issues, and also plan, manage, and carry out research activities.
