Bobby is an underwater enthusiast. He works for several years as a Professional SCUBA Diver, teaching recreation SCUBA Diving from beginner to professional level. He spent his time working and exploring Bali, Lombok, Alor, and Raja Ampat. He’s passionate about Underwater Photography, marine conservation, community development, and tourism. Gea earned his bachelor’s degree in Forestry from Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB). She is currently working as an Associate: Forest Governance and Policy at the UK FCDO’s Multistakeholder Forestry Programme Phase 4 (MFP4). Her work is to support the Government of Indonesia to consolidate the nationwide system of Sustainable Forest Management standard on its implementation and evaluation, fostering Indonesia’s tropical forest protection throughout the country. Previously, Gea worked for BirdLife Indonesia for years, conserving landscape and endemic birds in the West Manggrarai, Flores. At heart, she knows that she is a conservationist. She is happiest when she is in the forest, and in the sea.
Gea believes that young people are key in protecting our environment. She hopes to empower youths in Alor to build meaningful conservation efforts.
Dea is a VLIR-UOS Scholarship alumna who obtained a master degree in Sustainable Development, with a specialization in Ecology (MSc) from KU Leuven University, Belgium. She likes to travel and capture beautiful moments with her camera.
She has a strong interest in the relationship between ecology, society, and economy. Especially how to empower the community with a way that maintains the sustainability of nature. She has several experiences in socio-economic impact research and ecotourism planning. When she studied for her master in Belgium, she was also actively involved in the Indonesian Student Association in Belgium (PPI Belgia) as a Vice President.
Akbar is a fresh graduate of Marine Science from Brawijaya University who interested in marine conservation issues. He began to expand his realm of interest through the School of Coastal Environment (Schoove) to preserving the coastal area and empower the local community. He also accepted to join Our Ocean Youth Leadership Summit 2018 by Sustainable Ocean Alliance.
In the past, he was an intern student at National Taiwan Ocean University, Chairman person in the Student Council of Marine Science, Head of the Study & Field division in the Coastal Protection and Restoration Brawijaya Study Club, and Environmental Impact Assessment Assistant Course. From those experiences, he committed to reaching out to his dream to be a marine conservationist through his contribution in volunteering at Thresher Shark Indonesia.
