Thresher Shark Indonesia, in collaboration with the Tanaoba Lais Manekat (TLM) Foundation, organized a financial management training session for the Satu Hati Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME). The training took place at the Lego-Lego Cooperative Hall on Thursday, February 20, 2024, and was attended by all ten members of the MSME group.
The first session began with participants completing a pre-test consisting of several questions designed to assess their financial management knowledge and skills. After completing the pre-test, the training continued with a presentation by Muhammad Fahmi Uba.
His presentation started with an explanation of the basic concepts of financial management, including its definition and fundamental principles for managing finances. Fahmi Uba also discussed essential topics such as saving strategies, differentiating between wants and needs, and how to maintain a financial record book for the group.
At the end of the session, the facilitator introduced an interactive simulation game designed to strengthen the MSME members’ understanding and financial management skills.
The game involved three teams simulating real-life financial management scenarios. Participants were given tools such as play money, life event cards, and asset cards. Throughout the simulation, the groups had to manage their finances based on daily needs and wants. Every transaction, including income and expenses, was recorded in a financial logbook, reinforcing the concepts explained in the training.
The game aimed to enhance the participants’ ability to plan, manage, and utilize their financial resources effectively. Additionally, it emphasized the importance of saving profits and reinvesting them into the group’s development.
After the game, participants took a post-test featuring the same questions from the pre-test. The purpose was to measure the improvement in their financial management knowledge after the training.
“The mentoring efforts carried out so far have yielded positive results for both the progress of MSMEs and the image of the Lewalu Village Government. We should be proud that our MSME products are now available in several markets in Kalabahi,” said Lewalu Village Head, Ruslan Panawa.
This financial management training is a continuation of a previous session that focused on group management.
“I hope that through this training, the Satu Hati MSME group can gain a better understanding of how to manage their finances effectively,” said Fahmi Uba.
